Radcliffe Glass & Windows were approached by Mr and Mrs Handley of Harwood, Bolton to transform their tired old conservatory. After an initial sales consultation with Radcliffe Glass & Windows, it was discovered that they enjoyed their existing conservatory’s additional living space but didn’t get a chance to use it all year round as it was too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.
This is a common problem with traditional conservatories which use polycarbonate or low E glass. Bearing this in mind, it was demonstrated that with the clever use of Celsius glass in the structure, it would enable the living space to be used all year round. A conservatory to orangery conversion is now becoming incredibly popular with our customers as it changes the entire dynamics of the living space. It was also decided, on the advice of our design team, that having a faceted conservatory lost a lot of internal space and that to square off the build would introduce a lot more usable space. Within this new build part of the base, full height pillars were introduced to give a more solid feel to the build whilst the front elevation dwarf wall was removed to gain more space. The removal of front elevation brickwork, gave Mr and Mrs Handley a smooth transition from their orangery to their well-established garden whilst flooding the orangery with light.
With regard to the finer detail, the client also specified the cornice detail feature to the exterior of the orangery which conceals the guttering system and also specified the plastered internal bulkhead with LED lights. Mr and Mrs Handley said that they were delighted with their new orangery and will be recommending Radcliffe Glass & Windows to their good friend Mr. Foster.
